Standout seniors all around the country receive invitations to come practice and play for NFL organizations in the Senior Bowl. In the case of Auburn LB Deshaun Davis, the game’s executive director Jim Nagy wanted to do something special.
Nagy shared a video Thursday which shows that he got some help from Tigers coach Gus Malzahn to give Davis, a native of Mobile, Ala., where the Senior Bowl is played, an invitation to the game in front of his teammates, who applauded in approval.
The awesome clip shows Malzahn’s phone going off during a team meeting and him answering with the caller saying he’s looking for Davis. What an awesome moment for the Mobile native and Vigor high school alum.
Happy to announce @AuburnFootball ILB Deshaun Davis (@_Davis_Boy12) will be playing in the 70th annual @seniorbowl. We’ve been holding back a couple weeks to do something special for our Mobile native and Vigor HS alum. Thanks to @CoachGusMalzahn for helping us make it happen. pic.twitter.com/GHt3987kYr
