Now hold on, Chief! I kind of like Hot Pockets. And I'm 43. Ham and cheese. Mmmm!
"Pot, meet kettle." ~ Robert Nkemdiche
And Bo Scarbrough is medically cleared, but suspended the first four games of the season.
I thought it was "Machine Gun Kelly". But I digress. I think Mississippi has a pretty good team. They're rather well-rounded and have a nice amount of talent. But once you get past the 1st teamers, there's a noticeable drop off in talent. They're living off the hype of one 'pretty good' recruiting class, and I truly don't see why the talking heads are so giddy. I'm not trying to make all the Mississippi fans angry with this post. I just truly don't see the reason for the hype. Mississippi's average recruiting class over the past 4 years is 21.75. Compare that to: Alabama - 1 LSU - 6.5 UGA - 9.25 Florida - 9.25 Auburn - 9.75 Texas A&M - 10.5 UT - 13.75 South Carolina - 18.25 SEC Average - 18.76 And again, Mississippi - 21.75. 9th in the SEC in recruiting over the past 4 years. I know, recruiting stars don't always matter. But before you throw that out there, then why do you hang your proverbial hats on players like Nkemdiche, a former 5 star prospect? In the grand scheme of things, the rankings don't say definitively whether a team will win the conference or NC, but they are a pretty good indicator of the level of play that team is capable of. Mississippi will make some noise this year, just as they did last year. But I don't see them winning the conference, and barely finishing in the top half of the West. Just my thoughts. Take 'em or leave 'em.
Please, dear Lord, let the UT fans and team let their game do the talking for them. No fights tailgating, in the stands, or on the field. I may be Bama to the core, but I'm all UT in this one. Vols, keep your cool, play the game, and come out with the W.
SDS does realize there's actual football being played, right? Enough with the ignorant fashion arguments. Off season is OVER.
"but taking into account the shaky QB situation" Saban's record with first year QBs is 38-3. I'm still curious why so many people are giving Auburn the benefit of the doubt with a QB that couldn't beat out a converted DB and still trying to trash Alabama for having so much talent at QB that they haven't named a starter yet. Bama fatigue, maybe? That's all I got.
When Saban was hired, all the haters out there stated with hesitation that he was a gun for hire. That he wouldn't be in Tuscaloosa for four full seasons. Well, this is his ninth season. And both he and Mrs. Saban have stated many times that they don't want to leave. She loves living in the south, especially in Tuscaloosa. Now it is possible that he will change his mind and decide to go elsewhere even after the many times he said this was his final stop before retirement. But if he does, good for him. He is getting up there in years and would probably like to have some time to spend with his wife, kids, and grand kids. But all of what is said above came from what I deem a "click bait" article. I love football as much as anyone and even have a NC ring from playing in college. But there are greater and far more important things in life than football. If he does decide to leave Tuscaloosa, I'll wish him all the luck in the world. SDS must really be hurting for page visits with all the crap you've been printing lately.
Not trying to start an argument with the Auburn fans, but as a friend of mine said, it could possibly have something to do with morale after being passed on the depth chart by another receiver that missed quite a bit of fall camp. Just saying.
I hope this doesn't come across as obnoxious, as that is certainly not my intent. But the word is "Prostate". Not "Prostrate". That said, glad he is doing well. My father in law died from prostate cancer when he didn't go in to have his issues checked early enough. Guys, if you're over 40, man up and go get checked. God bless.
Alabama plays 7. Tough schedule ahead.
Looks like Cam got his feelings hurt that Norman picked him off.
Not trying to start a war here, but Nkemdiche didn't show me anything this past year. He looked to be dominated 90% and the other 10% wasn't exactly a killer. You mention about Montravius Adams' biggest plays coming against weaker opponents and that is the exact same thing with Nkemdiche. Sorry, not buying him as the best returning DT in the SEC. Not by a LONG shot.
Notice there are no responses from Delaware. I would imagine that there were only 2 or 3 people from each state that responded. If I had seen the poll I would have voted UT and possibly changed the graphic with my one vote. Sorry Vols. I still hate your creamcicle orange team worse than any other. Even more than AU.
I think that would be a pretty good hire for UF. He's a good coach and from what I've heard around campus here at UA he doesn't put up with bad behavior. Time will tell.
"Luck is dead". Not Lutz. You battle buzzards are always looking for something to complain about. Luck! Because your little West Georgia team seems to have more luck than any team in the country. And "luck" left you with "butt fumbles" and FAR outside of the SECCG.
The injured players in the UC story were from the wreck that killed the offensive lineman last year.
Really? 1 win against a down LSU squad and you catapult Cousin Eddie into the most elite coach in the SEC? ell oh ell I think obviously you could make a case for Saban being number 1. Or even Sumlin who has gone into others houses (more than just 1, including Tuscaloosa) and spanked them. Though I despise him, Malzahn should be ranked over Mullen without a doubt. Kentucky's Stoops should be at a minimum honorable mention just for the job he's doing with UK. What about Jones? He's turning UT back into a contender after years of being off the radar. The only explanation I can find for your reasoning of listing Mullen first is that you have a short memory and only count the last game. Remember the old commercial about "this is your brain on drugs"? You should have listened.
I agree with OJ being frozen, but it is not because of his play on the field. I think for the most part it has to do with a new (and still not completely settled competition) QB who seems a bit nervous about throwing down the seam. But TEs aren't only for catching passes. Look at his blocking as well. He's a great athlete that is only getting better in all phases of the game. I would, however, like to see him becoming more involved in the passing game. Between him and Cooper, White, Jones, Black, etc, if they're all getting some touches, things get a little scary for opposing defensive backfields. Cooper can't be the only target forever and some of these others will start making their marks as well.
The fumble in the red zone was 100% Simms' fault. Go back and watch the play and see the receivers breaking out on routes rather than blocking for a run. It wasn't too big of a deal since we were playing FAU, but against other teams we can't have those kinds of mistakes. Judgement still out on QB battle. Simms' second game and Coker's first. But Simms is ahead at the moment.
"He rushed for a high school career record of 12,124 yards." Ummm....No he didn't. High School Totals Where did your stats come from?
Mississippi's offense was not exactly great either half. Bo Wallace played a little better in the second half, but Boise is just nowhere near as decent of a team as they were 3 or 4 years ago. Both defenses were horrendous, and Nkemdiche (sp?) looks over rated to me. He is a talented kid, but I saw him get manhandled quite a few times last night. And that was by at best a sub-par offensive line. I estimate Mississippi to lose at least 4 games this year, if not 5.
I could be a little off here (but I'm not). USCe looked gassed as could be well before half time. If memory serves correctly, Clowney wasn't the only player that seemed to be out of shape during the first portion of the season last year. It would appear that the Gamecocks need to do a little more off season conditioning to better prepare for games like this. Both Offensive and Defensive lines looked like they were about to die midway through the third quarter.
Until you mentioned it, no. Good for Mississippi.
