Florida lands elite quarterback commit

Following a forgetful offensive showing against Florida State, the Gators land top quarterback Feleipe Franks.

Franks, the four-star signal caller from Crawfordville, Florida, committed to the Gators Sunday, and that’s a massive get for Jim McElwain. Franks had been committed to LSU, but he decommitted from the Tigers November 23. He’s taken several visits to Florida, and he’ll be an early enrollee.

Franks became the second quarterback commit in the 2016 recruiting class, joining three-star Kyle Trask of Manvel (Texas).

The 6-5, 220-pound Army All-American is rated as the country’s No. 5 overall pro-style quarterback and the Sunshine State’s No. 9 overall player, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
