Cristian Garcia may just be a walk-on linebacker for the Florida Gators, but he did something Thursday morning that is much bigger than any player can do on a football field. It was around 2:20 a.m., according to Thomas Goldkamp of 247 Sports, when Garcia witnessed Christopher Shaw sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman behind a dumpster.

Garcia proceeded to intervene outside of 101 Cantina, a popular bar, and then helped identify Shaw to police by a a photo lineup. Shaw has since been charged with a first-degree felony for sexual assault.

According to the arrest report, Shaw has denied sexual contact with the victim and his bond is set at $500,000.

Garcia, a redshirt junior, appeared in one game in 2015. In the Gators’ latest spring game, Garcia made four tackles and forced a fumble.
