Florida’s third-ranked passing defense took a hit Saturday.

Following the Gators’ 20-7 win against South Carolina, coach Will Muschamp confirmed senior safety Marcus Maye will miss the rest of the season with a broken arm.

Maye was carted off the field early in the game and returned to the sideline sporting a sling and street clothes. He entered the game as Florida’s third-leading tackler with 49 stops, and he had an interception and five pass breakups in coverage.

Maye, who is known mostly for forcing turnovers, ends his college career with seven forced fumbles and five interceptions.
