The way Gary Danielson sees it, Florida’s offense under Jim McElwain doesn’t look much different than it did with Will Muschamp at the helm.

The CBS Sports analyst said as much during Tuesday’s SEC Championship preview conference call. Danielson discussed the Gators’ low-scoring offense as it heads into the conference title game against No. 1 Alabama and its top-ranked defense.

“It seems like coach (Jim) McElwain is having the same struggles Will Muschamp had,” Danielson told reporters. “He can’t seem to find a quarterback significantly talented enough to handle tough defenses in the SEC. If you don’t have top-notch quarterback, play, much like the NFL, you have a tough time moving against these elite athletes.”

On top of the lack of above-average quarterback play, Danielson said Florida doesn’t have any “elite receivers” that require specific game-planning. The Gators have not boasted one, Danielson said, since Percy Harvin left after the 2008 season.

Florida’s offensive woes are a huge reason many expect a blowout in the SEC Championship Game. We’ll find out if that’s the case when the No. 15 Gators (8-3, 6-2) take on the Crimson Tide (12-0, 8-0) at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.
