Jim McElwain addresses Callaway status, injured players at spring meetings

The status of Florida’s top playmaker from 2015, WR Antonio Callaway (35 catches, 678 yards, 4 TD; 2 punt return TD), has been the big question surrounding the Gators since the beginning of spring practice when coach Jim McElwain announced the wideout was suspended indefinitely.
It’s no surprise that McElwain was asked to give a Callaway update when he met with the media at the SEC spring meetings in Destin, Fla.

Unfortunately for Gators fans, it’s not in McElwain’s style to offer any more than the absolute minimum when commenting on disciplinary matters.
The coach did have some positive developments on the injury front, as LB Alex Anzalone, OL Martez Ivey and WR Brandon Powell have all been given the green light to go full speed.

As for Treon Harris, who was indefinitely suspended along with Callaway, GatorBait.net’s Thomas Goldkamp is reporting last year’s quarterback faces a new legal matter:
Meanwhile, Harris is currently a defendant in a civil eviction lawsuit filed by the University House apartment complex on SW 13th St. in Gainesville. University House served Harris with a delinquent rent notice on May 17, alleging that Harris owes $2,216.67 in unpaid rent, requiring him to pay the sum within three days. The civil eviction/back rent case was filed in Alachua County court records on May 26.
If Harris returns to the team, he is not expected to be part of Florida’s quarterback depth chart.
