In tonight’s inaugural College Football Playoff rankings, the Georgia Bulldogs came in at No. 11 and were one of six SEC teams to make the CFP Top 25 poll.

The Bulldogs have made a strong push in recent weeks, ironically after star running back Todd Gurley was indefinitely suspended back on Oct. 9. True freshman running back Nick Chubb has shouldered the UGA running game, and consequently, Georgia is playing its best football of the season as evidenced by two convincing road wins against Missouri and Arkansas.

Head coach Mark Richt briefly discussed the CFP rankings prior to their release earlier today at his press conference. Although he’s interested in how the brand new playoff system plays out, he’s wasn’t all that interested in where his team ended up tonight.

“I’m not too concerned where we are, where everybody else is for that matter,” Richt said. “There’s just so much football to be played, we know things are going to change over time. It’ll be interesting to see how that things gets started anyway, even the show itself.”

With a 6-1 overall record, the Bulldogs are in control of the SEC East and a heavy favorite to compete for the SEC Championship. A strong finish in the remaining four games on their schedule would only strengthen the Bulldogs’ chances of being included in the final CFP top-four on Dec. 7, and eventually playing for a national championship.
