Georgia won its 28th consecutive regular-season SEC game on Saturday night, setting a new conference record, according to ESPN.

The Bulldogs defeated Kentucky 13-12 in Lexington to secure the record. Georgia was previously in a tie with a couple of historic Alabama teams who also won 27 regular-season conference games at one point, per ESPN’s Sean McDonough.

This was also Georgia’s 42nd consecutive regular-season win overall. The Bulldogs are 45-2 in their last 47 games overall. If not for a loss to Alabama in last year’s SEC Championship Game, UGA would be close to approaching Oklahoma’s all-time win streak record of 47 games — a record that has so far stood for over 65 years.

Georgia has not lost a regular-season game since Nov. 7, 2020, when it lost to No. 8 Florida 44-28 in Jacksonville.

Georgia does have some tough opponents coming up in 2024 that could test this streak. The Bulldogs are slated to play on the road at Alabama on Sept. 28, at Texas on Oct. 19 and at Ole Miss on Nov. 5. UGA’s home slate also includes games against Auburn and Tennessee.

Georgia will be idle in Week 4 before taking on Alabama in Tuscaloosa in Week 5. The Bulldogs will be looking for their first win at Bryant-Denny Stadium since 2007.
