Key Georgia DB J.R. Reed reportedly absent from Wednesday's practice
The Georgia Bulldogs allowed Mizzou QB Drew Lock to throw for 253 yards, four touchdowns and only one interception last year.
As they prepare to face Lock and the Tigers again on Saturday (without several key defensive backs from last year’s squad), they’re dealing with something that could potentially be some very bad news.
According to a report from Wednesday’s practice, talented S J.R. Reed was not present during the media-viewing portion of the practice session:
Georgia safety J.R. Reed was not at practice today, at least during the media viewing period. No immediate word on why, and no previous word of an injury. Something to bear watching, obviously. Freshman Christopher Smith was starting in his place in the team's dime package.

Reed had the second-most tackles for the Dawgs last year, behind only star LB Roquan Smith. He also had two interceptions and five passes defended.
Coach Kirby Smart will likely address Reed’s status after practice, so we’ll have to see what comes of this news.
