Jake Fromm and Tim Tebow aren’t too much alike on the football field. Their games are much different, as Tebow was a bruising QB while Fromm is more of a pocket passer, but there’s one thing that’s very similar, according to Kirby Smart.

During SEC Media Days, Smart spoke with the SEC Network about Fromm’s leadership and faith, and he compared the UGA signal caller to the Florida legend.

“He’s strong, and he’s strong in his faith,” Smart said an interview with the SEC Network. “I relate it a lot of times, and people are going to cringe when I say this, but how Tim was, Tebow. When you think about how strong he was in his belief of who he is. He has a not ordinary confidence in himself and also what he believes. He has an ability to lead in that locker room without alienating people or without rubbing people the wrong way, and I think that speaks volumes about the team we can become because when he speaks, they listen. When things don’t go well, he absorbs that responsibility himself, just like I do.”

Smart warned everyone not to cringe when he made the comparison to Tebow, but it’s true — Fromm has a lot of the leadership qualities that Tebow had. So does Tua Tagovailoa. So does a lot of other great players.

Tebow’s strong character is something that SEC fans will never forget. Sure, he dominated on the field, but off-the-field and on-the-field, he was the same person.

Fromm has those same qualities, too, and Georgia is hoping for a big-time Tebow-like season from the veteran signal caller.
