Kirby Smart said he will name a starting quarterback based on the upcoming week of practice and the gameplan for Georgia’s Week 3 game at Missouri during his press conference Monday.

Freshman Jacob Eason and senior Greyson Lambert have shared reps through the Bulldogs’ first two games. Eason played the majority of Georgia’s 26-24 win over Nicholls State in Week 2 and threw for 204 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 19 of 32 passing.

Lambert started in the Bulldogs’ season opener against North Carolina but was limited to just eight passing attempts. Eason finished with 131 yards and a touchdown on 8 of 12 passing.

Georgia’s quarterback battle has been a major storyline throughout the offseason. Many expected Lambert to have the edge based on experience after starting in 21 games during his college career, including 12 of Georgia’s 13 games in 2015.

But Eason entered as the nation’s top high school quarterback prospect and was favored by a large portion of the Georgia fanbase. Perhaps we’ll have a definitive answer from Smart on Saturday.
