Nick Chubb has sent out one tweet in 2015, ‘live & learn’ way back on April 5. Other rare updates on his personal account have been the occasional retweet of a teammate or Georgia football account, pushing his music interests

Georgia’s sophomore running back comes from a different breed, one with an old-school vibe. He said in June he doesn’t see social media as a necessity because ‘Lamborghinis don’t have to advertise.

Well said from the preseason Heisman candidate and SEC’s top returning rusher.

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Edward Aschoff, Chubb detailed what he looks for pre-snap against SEC defenses and said he anticipates his cuts before they happen. Vision is one of Chubb’s strengths, an element of his game that’s been amplified since he arrived between the hedges.

“Back in high school, I wasn’t really taught anything. I had a lot of freedom in high school,” Chubb said, according to ESPN. “They would just toss me the ball, and I would run. I know how to run the ball now.”

Many are projecting the freshman All-American to surpass last season’s lofty rushing totals this fall as the centerpiece of the SEC’s top rushing offense. Thrust into action following Todd Gurley’s suspension, Chubb rushed for at least 100 yards in eight straight games to end the 2014 season including 200-yard explosions against Arkansas and Louisville.

His workload (219 carries) was second only to Auburn’s Cameron Artis-Payne in the SEC and that’s taking into account only 31 total attempts over his first five games. Durability was never a concern and he only got stronger as the season progressed.

Chubb admits he started to feel some of the wear later in the season.

“I was tired almost every game, but I didn’t really show it,” Chubb said, according to ESPN. “If you’re tired, just go in and score and get off the field. That’s my mode, I just go in and score and get off the field, and I won’t be tired anymore.”

His 7.1 yards per carry average was tops among starters in the SEC as was his touchdown total (14). Going into his sophomore campaign, Chubb’s eyeing Herschel Walker’s single-season rushing record, but would never say as much.

If he does surpass the all-time SEC mark of 1,891 yards on the ground, Chubb will simply hand the ball back to the official and trot back to Georgia’s huddle.

That’s who he is.
