Georgia’s fall quarterback battle just got a lot more interesting.

Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert confirmed to 247Sports on Wednesday that he will play between the hedges this season. He can play immediately as a graduate transfer and has two season of eligibility remaining.

Lambert exited spring practice as Virginia’s No. 2 behind Matt Johns before deciding he wanted to play elsewhere. Lambert played in nine games last season for the Cavs, throwing for 1,632 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Brice Ramsey, Faton Bauta and Jacob Park are currently competing for the starting job this season for the Bulldogs. Mark Richt, who confirmed interest in Lambert on Tuesday, hasn’t named a favorite in the race.

“We expect somebody will come out of this deal as a winner,” first-year OC Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday according to the AJC. “Coach Richt and I both believe that you need to find one guy. Now we’ve got to make sure we find the right guy.”
