Georgia’s running game is now in Sony Michel’s hands, and the sophomore wasted little time to showcase his ability.

Michel, a former five-star recruit from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., replaced injured Nick Chubb early in Georgia’s game Saturday against Tennessee. The extent of Chubb’s left knee injury is not known. Last year, Chubb took over after Todd Gurley tore his ACL.

Michel has big-play ability. He ran for a 58-yard touchdown against Southern and has at least one run of 20 or more yards in five of Georgia’s six games this season.

He added two of those runs in the first half Saturday.

His 29-yard run in the first quarter set up a Georgia touchdown. He added a 66-yarder in the second quarter to put him over 100 yards in the first half. Both runs included bursts, cuts and a finishing shoulder.

Michel ran for a career-high 155 yards last season against Troy.
