Earlier this month, St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher expressed his intention to keep Georgia rookie Todd Gurley out the remainder of the preseason to continue the rehab process with his surgically-repaired knee.

A couple weeks was all the first-round pick needed it appears.

Gurley was cleared to practice on Monday, meaning he should suit up for the Rams’ season opener on Sept. 13 vs. the Seattle Seahawks.

“We’re gonna progress him slowly, but he’ll be able to participate in the 7-on-7 team drills,” Fisher said, according to NFL.com. “Up to this point, he’s just participated in the 1-on-1s. So we’ll take it slow but it’ll be fun to get him on the practice field.”

Fisher attributed Gurley’s quick return to a recent report from Dr. James Andrews who was pleased with the running back’s progress and his ability to cut.

“We’re just gonna slowly increase his reps and see how he progresses,” Fisher said. “He may need a day off here and there, but it’s good news. He’ll be with a brace, he’ll have to continue to wear the brace.”
