Football is an emotional game.
Sometimes guys do some crazy things in the name of motivating themselves and teammates to perform well.
This is one of those times that it can backfire.
Have a look at Penn State LB Ben Kline trying to fire up his teammates by headbutting five players during a pregame speech (Warning: NSFW due to language):

At the end of the day, it was all for nothing. Georgia won 24-17.
