Kentucky breaks school record with two 1,000-yard rushers in same season
While LSU and Georgia garner much of the headlines when it comes to running back play within the SEC, Kentucky should not be forgotten about.
Stanley ‘Boom’ Williams has rushed for nearly 1,100 yards on the year — to go along with six rushing scores. His teammate — true freshman Benny Snell Jr. — broke the 1,000-yard mark on Saturday versus Austin Peay. Snell Jr. has accrued 12 touchdowns in his inaugural campaign — and looks poised to be Kentucky’s back of the future.
It’s the first time in school history that the Cats have had two 1,000-yard rushers (Boom Williams and Benny Snell).

Due to Snell Jr. surpassing the 1,000-yard plateau versus Austin Peay, it became the first time in Kentucky football history in which the program has had two 1,000-yard rushers on its team.
Mark Stoops hasn’t been able to cultivate an identity for his football team since taking over in Lexington. However, running the football effectively may be his ultimate calling-card.
