The Kentucky Wildcats, fresh off a 1-0 start to the season, received some more good news Monday night when the SEC office in Birmingham announced sophomore center Jon Toth was last week’s SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. The announcement came live on SEC Now on the SEC Network.

Toth, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, earned the honor for the first time in his career, although he did earn SEC All-Freshman honors following his rookie season in 2013.

He did not commit any penalties in UK’s season opener against UT Martin, nor did he allow any sacks. He recorded three knockdowns and graded out at 91 percent for the game.

The sophomore anchored an offensive line that helped UK post historic numbers on offense. The Cats’ 656 total yards against the Skyhawks rank fourth-most in a single game in school history, and their 59 points were the most in a single game in five years. The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder aided the Cats in racking up more than 200 yards on the ground, and helped keep first-time starter Patrick Towles comfortable as he throw for more than 350 yards in his debut.

Toth and Kentucky will return to action Saturday at home against the Ohio Bobcats.
