LSU running back Leonard Fournette had a game for the ages last weekend against Auburn.

The sophomore standout and newly-labeled Heisman front-runner pounded the opposition with a career-best 228 yards, an outing which featured several highlight-worthy, tackle-breaking runs through the heart of Will Muschamp’s defense.

College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit in August picked LSU to reach win the SEC and reach the College Football Playoff this season. He appeared on Mike & Mike this week to discuss Fournette’s seismic day in Baton Rouge.

Transcript from Herbstreit’s ESPN radio assessment of Leonard Fournette:

“It was one of those performances in September that reminds you how great a player is. He had a sensational freshman year and I think a lot of people had him either winning the Heisman, or at the very least, being in New York City (for the ceremony) so his performance doesn’t surprise me.”

“I think it’s the best game he has played in a LSU Tiger uniform. I think it’s ironic that an Auburn safety called him out. I think that kind of added fuel to his fire.”

“He looked like a raging bull when he ran. He almost looked like a guy playing little league football who was bigger and stronger and badder than everyone else.”

“He was looking to dial people up when he got to the second and third level. Instead of running around them, he was aiming at them.”
