Jaray Jenkins shares message to Malik Nabers after muffed punts in LSU-FSU game

To say it was a rough night for LSU’s Malik Nabers would be an understatement.
In the Tigers’ thrilling but ultimately heartbreaking 24-23 loss to Florida State on Sunday night, the 6-0, 195-pound sophomore muffed two punts that ended up in turnovers that dramatically hurt his team’s chances.
While there probably wasn’t much to be said to make Nabers feel any better about the situation, fellow wide receiver Jaray Jenkins, who had been named a captain for the FSU game, offered plenty of support to his teammate.
“I told Malik, don’t worry about that, it’s in the past,” Jenkins said. “Just worry about now and that’s what he did. He came up with two great catches for us.”

LSU coach Brian Kelly was less sympathetic, however, at least publicly.
After the game, Kelly said, “You evaluate him through four weeks of practice, and you feel comfortable that with his elite skillset and his mindset that he’s gonna be able to do a great job. And that wasn’t the case. That was a mistake that we made.”
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday night at home against Southern.
