Les Miles sent a message to his players during the SEC Teleconference Wednesday: if you attempt the Lambeau Leap, you’ll be searching for a ride home.

“I promise you that if anybody jumps (for) the Lambeau Leap, they’ll end up with their thumb out to see if they can get a ride home,” Miles said.

“It’s college football, and we’re going to play it that way. I think our guys understand that we’ll do it right.”

LSU will face Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Saturday. While the Packers have a tradition of leaping into the stands during touchdown celebrations, neither team will be able to do so.

In the section of the NCAA rules that addresses unsportsmanlike conduct fouls, a penalty would occur after, “Any delayed, excessive, prolonged or choreographed act by which a player (or players) attempts to focus attention upon himself (or themselves).” The rules also prohibit, “Going into the stands to interact with spectators, or bowing at the waist after a good play.”

An unsportsmanlike conduct foul results in a 15-yard penalty, according to NCAA rules. Two calls results in an ejection. So it would be wise for LSU players to heed Miles’ threat before deciding to leap into the stands on Saturday.

Interestingly, cornerback and punt returner Tre’Davious White said earlier this week that no matter the consequences, he would celebrate with a Lambeau Leap.

“Definitely. I’m pretty much just open to whatever punishment that’s going to come my way Monday,” he said, according to The Advocate.

I wonder if he’s rethinking that now.
