LSU used two quarterbacks to hold off Syracuse 35-26 on Saturday night, and incumbent starter Danny Etling, who was relieved in the middle of the game, and then returned, reacted to the game in a Q&A with Geaux247.

Etling was 10-for-17 for 188 yards with two touchdowns, while freshman Myles Brennan was 4-for-6 for 75 yards and one interception. Brennan showed potential by gaining a first down on third and short, and finding running backs out of the backfield. Etling, for his part, had an 87-yard touchdown pass to Drake Davis.

“I thought he did really well,” Etling said of Brennan. “He executed the gameplan. Obviously, you don’t want to turn the ball over and all that. That’s something we stress, but you’ve got to watch the film and see what happened and make sure that you made all the right decisions and we don’t skip a beat when we do that.”

Etling was also asked about the possibility that opponents would bring safeties close to the line of scrimmage to dare LSU to pass more.

“I’m sure they will,” he said. “That’s probably a better question for their coaches. I adjust to what I see and make a plan around — understanding our strengths and weaknesses. We’ve shown we can throw the ball over heads and it’s just a matter of with our speed with our receivers so that we can make the throws as quarterbacks and protect as linemen.”
