Danny Etling must really want to keep his grasp on LSU’s starting quarterback job.

The junior exited the game for only one play after taking a vicious shot to the head that removed his helmet and resulted in the ejection of Auburn linebacker Tre’ Williams. Trainers could be seen wiping blood from a gash on Etling’s forehead and applying a towel to his upper lip.

Brandon Harris, who started the season at quarterback replaced him in Week 2, entered the game and handed the ball off to running back Leonard Fournette. Etling then trotted back in to take command of LSU’s huddle.

No. 18 LSU currently leads Auburn 7-6 in the middle of the second quarter. The game can be seen on ESPN.
