One of the best running backs in LSU history could be coming home to Baton Rouge.

According to a report by FootballScoop, LSU is considering adding Kevin Faulk to Ed Orgeron’s staff in the form of a player development role. South Carolina recently did something similar in naming Marcus Lattimore director of player development in Columbia.

There may be one hiccup holding up the process in Baton Rouge, however, as LSU is researching any issues that could arise in hiring a high school coach to an off-the-field coaching position. Here’s what FootballScoop is reporting on the matter:

Sources tell FootballScoop Ed Orgeron is considering offering Kevin Faulk a position on the staff in player development; however the University (like so many others) is carefully analyzing IAWP issues that would come with bringing Faulk on the staff in a non-coaching role.

Faulk starred immediately at LSU during his playing career, earning Freshman All-American honors as a true freshman in 1995. Faulk finished his college career with 4,557 rushing yards, which was second in SEC history in 1998. Nick Chubb and Darren McFadden have since eclipsed Faulk’s rushing total, however, the LSU legend still has the fourth most career rushing yards in conference history.
