Tony Benford is on the move.

The LSU assistant and former Tigers interim head coach has been hired away by TCU, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Losing Benford is big for Will Wade and the Tigers. Benford joins the Horned Frogs coaching staff under Jamie Dixon.

Benford joined LSU under Wade for the 2017-18 season. He was named the interim head coach on March 8, 2019, after the school announced the suspension of Wade. Benford coached LSU for its last regular season game, the SEC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament, where it lost to Michigan State in the Sweet 16.

LSU reinstated Wade on April 14.

Benford is the former head coach at North Texas from 2012-17. He finished with a 62-95 overall record.
