Like a fine wine, Dak Prescott’s gotten better with age, but unfortunately for Mississippi State, there isn’t much left in his glass.

The Bulldogs’ record-setting senior quarterback turned in one of his best all-time performances on Saturday night in Arkansas, recording a career-best 508 yards passing and leading his team on the go-ahead 82-yard touchdown march during a 51-50 win.

“I’d say he might be the best player I’ve ever coached,” Dan Mullen said. “And if you look at my coaching resume, that’s pretty impressive.”

That’s high praise considering the group Mullen is mentioning. Former No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton won a Heisman at Auburn two years after Mullen coached him at the University of Florida while Tim Tebow, who many believe is the SEC’s best player ever, won a national title and countless awards under Mullen’s tutelage.

And now Prescott, a proven winner and Mississippi State’s most notable player in program history, has his own spot among the greats before him. The Bulldogs will try to improve to 9-3 next week in their regular-season finale against Ole Miss, Prescott’s final home game in the Maroon and White.
