Barry Odom: I don't understand targeting rule
The debate around what does and does not constitute targeting has become part of the college football watching experience.
Every Saturday, fans see controversial plays replayed over and over on TV until a booth review decides whether it deserves the targeting penalty and the ejection that comes with the penalty. Needless to say, there’s always a lively debate on Twitter full of football fans offering their interpretations of the hit and the rule in question.
If some of the calls have made you unsure of your understanding of targeting, don’t feel bad. Missouri coach Barry Odom admitted Monday that he doesn’t have a clear understanding of the rule either.
Asked Odom if he had a clear understanding of targeting rule. Went back & forth for about 15 seconds. Then said “No I don’t."

The rule was brought up because of the call on Mizzou DE Marcell Frazier for a hit in the Middle Tennessee game, which MU lost 51-45. DeArmond, who asked the question Monday, was critical of the call on Saturday:
I’m pretty sure this was the play Marcell Frazier was called for targeting. Still not sure about that. pic.twitter.com/aVv3l5ZeBS
