The No. 17 Missouri Tigers are one win closer to their second consecutive SEC East title. The Tigers defeated Tennessee, 29-21, on Saturday at Neyland Stadium, improving to 9-2 (6-1 SEC) in 2014.

Missouri scored first and prevented the Vols from ever holding an advantage. At halftime, both teams were tied at 13, before the Tigers added a field goal in the third quarter. Tennessee looked to answer with 14:53 remaining and drove to the Missouri 29-yard line. However, quarterback Joshua Dobbs was intercepted by Kenya Davis and the Tigers took possession on the 24.

After two quarterback keepers and a false start penalty, Missouri called a passing play on third down. Maty Mauk found Jimmie Hunt for a 73-yard touchdown reception that gave the Tigers a comfortable lead. The Vols were in the right coverage, but Hunt broke free by out jumping Brian Randolph and stiff-arming Cameron Sutton after the catch.

The play secured the Tigers’ lead as Tennessee would fall short, despite a late touchdown and 2-point conversion.
