The Missouri Tigers knew they’d be well-represented in this year’s NFL draft, but they never realized they’d own the draft’s second round.

But that’s exactly what it felt like when the Arizona Cardinals selected Markus Golden with the 58th pick in this weekend’s draft, the 26th pick of the second round. Golden became the ninth SEC player taken in the second round of the draft, the fourth Missouri Tiger taken in the first two rounds and the third of the second round alone following Dorial Green-Beckham and Mitch Morse.

Golden’s pass-rushing tandem mate Shane Ray went 23rd overall in the first round to Denver.

Last year, Golden dominated opposite Ray to the tune of 78 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 10 sacks as a defensive end. He’ll likely play outside linebacker at the NFL level.
