Mizzou LB Michael Scherer had an unfortunate ending to his Tigers career, tearing his ACL on Oct. 22 against Middle Tennessee which brought his final season at MU to a close.

Since having surgery in November, it’s been all about rehab for Scherer with the goal of showing he’s ready to play in the NFL. He’s recently worked with Rex Sharp and the Missouri training staff, and the results have been encouraging.

“He’s well ahead of where most people would have predicted, and he will be able to perform at pro day,” Sharp told Blake Toppenmeyer of the Columbia Daily Tribune. “We all have a goal of making sure he’s at his best, as much as he can possibly be, when we do the pro day.”

Missouri’s pro day, March 23, will allow Scherer to show he’s able to run drills on his rehabilitated knee.

“It’s gone a lot better than I could ever imagine,” Scherer said. “I’ve never been through anything like this before, but you kind of hear things and you think things. Then you kind of find it’s not as bad as I thought.”

In his shortened season, Scherer finished fifth on the Tigers in tackles with 53. He had 266 total tackles in his career.

Scherer is not listed as one of the inside linebackers expected to be drafted this spring, and will likely be working for a free agent opportunity.
