More than four decades have passed since Archie Manning played a football game in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, but he’ll get to hear the crowd cheer for him once again Saturday.

The former Ole Miss quarterback will be honored with a National Football Foundation On-Campus Salute during the Rebels’ game against Auburn, the school announced Wednesday.

Manning received the 2016 NFF Gold Medal, which honors “an outstanding American who has demonstrated integrity and honesty; achieved significant career success; and has reflected the basic values of those who have excelled in amateur sport, particularly football.” The list of past winners includes presidents, generals and corporate CEOs.

Manning started for Ole Miss from 1968-1970, earning All-American recognition and eventually becoming a College Football Hall of Fame member.  He then moved on to a 16-year NFL career, during which he was a two-time Pro Bowler for the New Orleans Saints.

Ole Miss and No. 15 Auburn kick off at 7:15 p.m. ET Saturday on the SEC Network.
