Ole Miss definitely has one of the best quarterbacks in the country. It also looks like it has one of the best receiving corps.

On paper against three more teams with some of the best catchers in the conference, the Rebels have a lot of youth to go with that potential.

Not including tight end Evan Engram, who may have the best hands of the bunch, the Rebels return three of their top five receivers. Senior Quincy Adeboyejo should be poised to take over as the leader, but that could go to junior Damore’ea Stringfellow. They had similar numbers in 2015.

Adeboyejo: 38 catches, 604 yards, 7 TDs

Stringfellow: 36 catches, 503 yards, 5 TDs

Losing Laquon Treadwell and Cody Core to the NFL should send those two to the top of the stat sheet. Then comes Markell Pack, who had 31 catches but no starts.

The biggest promise lies in youth. Top 2015 recruits Van Jefferson and Damarkus Lodge could easily become dueling No. 1s. Jefferson redshirted last season and was named the spring’s most improved player.

The Rebels got the top two receiving targets in the Magnolia State in A.J. Brown and DK Metcalf as well as Florida 7A Player of the Year Tre Nixon.

VS. ALABAMA

Ole Miss knows what it has returning but also knows the potential of those in waiting.

Alabama, on the other hand, knows exactly what it has returning: Calvin Ridley.

The freshman posted 1,045 yards and 7 TDs on 89 catches last season, breaking out after Robert Foster broke his collarbone against Ole Miss.

Foster is back and so is last season’s No. 2 ArDarius Stewart (63 catches, 700 yards, 4 TDs). Tight end O.J. Howard is also coming off the game of his life in the national championship game against Clemson, being named Most Value Offensive Player after catching 5 passes for 208 yards and 2 TDs.

The team is also waiting to see what 6-foot-3, 207-pounder Gehrig Dieter can do after transferring in from Bowling Green where he was a star in the MAC.

The difference between the Rebels and the Tide is most glaring at quarterback.

VS. ARKANSAS

Same for Arkansas, although the Razorbacks have five senior wideouts who have already proven they can get the job done.

The Razorbacks return two of their top three receivers in Drew Morgan and Dominique Reed, two of five seniors atop the depth chart. If Austin Allen is the guy, he will likely throw more in the first quarter of the first game than the three passes he threw all of last season.

Morgan led the Razorbacks with 63 catches and 843 yards and 10 TDs (tied for second in the SEC). Reed was third on the team with 28 catches for 535 yards and 6 touchdowns and is one of the fastest players in the country. Junior Jared Cornelius played in nine games as a sophomore and had 24 catches for 393 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The guy who could regain the lead is senior Keon Hatcher. Due to a broken foot, Hatcher caught only 13 passes last season and that came in two games.

Another senior coming off a broken foot, Cody Hollister, had only four catches. All of them came against Toledo. The oddball of the group is 5-foot-11 redshirt freshman Deon Stewart. Potentially explosive among the seniors, Stewart chose Arkansas over a list of teams, including Ole Miss.

VS. TEXAS A&M

Ole Miss lost its best receiver. Texas A&M has its best three coming back.

Sophomore Christian Kirk caught 80 passes for 1,009 yards and 7 TDs as a freshman, Josh Reynolds caught 51 for 907 yards and 5 TDs and Ricky Seals-Jones hauled in 45 passes for 560 yards and 4 scores. Meanwhile, Speedy Noil and Damion Tarley combined to reel in 36 passes for 426 yards.

Those five pass-catchers, who scored 20 of the Aggies’ 25 touchdowns, show the Aggies have some serious depth at the position in 2016.

That’s four teams with some of the best receivers in the country. The difference is, while Alabama, Arkansas and Texas A&M have questions at quarterback, Ole Miss has one who is poised to be the first taken off the board in this year’s NFL Draft.

And that will come with the help of a group of pass-catchers who have the potential to crowd the top of the stat sheet.
