It’s been nearly two weeks since news broke that Ole Miss and head football coach Hugh Freeze had agreed on a new contract to keep Freeze in Oxford for the next four seasons.

It was initially reported that Freeze would earn $4 million per year under his new contract, an $850,000 annual raise from what he earned this year. However, according to a report by Football Scoop, he’ll actually earn more than that.

The popular football insider website revealed Freeze will actually earn $4.3 million annually for the next four years, and it also specified the other terms of the deal, including annual raises built into the contract and bonuses for reaching the SEC championship game.

Here’s an excerpt of the Football Scoop report:

“(Ole Miss athletic director) Ross Bjork has announced the finalized salary increases for Hugh Freeze and his staff. Freeze’s contract has been extended for four years (the max allowed by the state of Mississippi), and his base salary will rise from $3.15 million to $4.3 million annually. His base salary will also increase by $100,000 per year, or 50% of the annual bonuses earned the previous season (whichever is greater). Freeze’ salary increases to $5 million should the Rebels advance to the SEC Championship game. The salary pool for his assistant coaches has been increased by at least 25%.”

To clarify, Ole Miss was 13th in the SEC this season with a pool of just more than $2.5 million for its assistant coaches. Freeze’s new contract bumped that pool up to more than $3.2 million, giving it more money to attract coveted assistants than the following programs: Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky and Mississippi State. Ole Miss trailed all of those teams in assistant coach payout this season.

In addition to announcing the official terms of Freeze’s new contract, Football Scoop also reported Ole Miss is investing more than $11.2 million into the Manning Center, which serves as a headquarters for the Rebels football program. That money will be used to make improvements to the locker rooms, weight room, players lounge and meeting rooms.
