University of Georgia redshirt sophomore cornerback Tramel Terry is transferring, according to the school.

“I appreciate the opportunity provided by Georgia,” Terry said in a statement released by the school. “I have many friends there but believe I’ll have a better chance for playing time somewhere else.”

Initially, Terry came to UGA as a wide receiver, but he moved to defensive back in 2013, and he’s been buried on the depth chart. He redshirted the 2013 season, after tearing his ACL during his high school all-star game in December 2012.

“Playing time is important to every player and I understand the way he feels,” Mark Richt said in a statement. “We wish him nothing but success at his next school and will assist any way we can in the process.”

The former Mr. South Carolina Football 2012, Terry, recorded two tackles and a forced fumble Saturday against the Gamecocks.
