The SEC is loaded with freshmen who were stud recruits and other underclassmen who could leave early for the NFL, but here at Saturday Down South we don’t want to overlook the talented seniors who stuck around for a fourth season and are excelling for their teams. Here are five of the top performances from seniors during the ninth week of the SEC football season.

JAKE GANUS

The Georgia linebacker, who transferred in after the UAB program was temporarily shut down, has been through about as many shakeups as a college football player could imagine over the past year or so, but his final regular season game was a big one as he helped coach Mark Richt go out with win against the rival Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Ganus led the Bulldogs with 12 tackles, including one for a loss. He finished the regular season with a team-high 96 tackles.

JAYLEN WALTON

The running game hasn’t always been a huge part of the Ole Miss offense, but the senior from Memphis offered up plenty of production for the Rebels in their Egg Bowl victory against Mississippi State. Walton carried the ball 16 times for 93 yards and also had five catches for 34 yards.

DAK PRESCOTT

Though he couldn’t lead the Mississippi State to victory against rival Ole Miss, Prescott had his typical outstanding game. The senior quarterback completed 31 of 42 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball 21 times for 63 yards and a score. The fans in Starkville got to see one last great performance from the quarterback who helped turn the program around.

KENTRELL BROTHERS

Brothers finished up a record-breaking season for Missouri with another double-digit tackle game. His 12 tackles against Arkansas gave him at least 10 in all but one game this season, one in which his play on defense was one of the few bright spots for the Tigers. The linebacker also broke up a pass.

CYRUS JONES

The Alabama cornerback hasn’t necessarily been the flashiest member of the Crimson Tide defensive backfield, but he’s been solid all season and continued his fine season Saturday in the Iron Bowl victory against Auburn. Jones finished with a pair of tackles and broke up a pass while also handling punt return duties for the Tide.
