College football recruiting has grown in popularity in recent years. With the launch of websites such as 247Sports, Rivals and others, fans have paid close attention to their team’s incoming players long before they take the field.

With the nation’s top prospects, their college announcements are their first true taste of the national spotlight and have become more creative and entertaining than in years past. Here are some of the SEC’s best National Signing Day announcements in recent years.

REUBEN FOSTER, ALABAMA, 2013

Reuben Foster just couldn’t make up his mind. After originally committing to Alabama, Foster was so won over by rival Auburn, he had the Tigers’ logo tattooed on his forearm. However, the former Auburn High School standout flipped back to the Tide and has since enjoyed a decorated career in Tuscaloosa. On National Signing Day, one of the 2013 class’ most talked about players proved his commitment to Alabama by donning a Nick Saban inspired ensemble while signing his papers.

LANDON COLLINS, ALABAMA, 2012

Collins announced his decision between Alabama and LSU during the 2012 Under Armour All-American game. His mother, April Justin, sat alongside him as he selected the Crimson Tide over the hometown Tigers. Justin, an admitted supporter of LSU, showed visible disappointment in her son’s decision, which she has since publicly supported.

ISAIAH CROWELL, GEORGIA, 2011

Crowell announced his intention to play for Georgia like most top prospects. That is, until he brought out a live Bulldog to represent the team’s mascot. However, Crowell’s time with the program would be short-lived after being dismissed the following season.

DRE KIRKPATRICK, ALABAMA, 2008

Dre Kirkpatrick was the top cornerback prospect in the 2008 class. The Gadsden native decided between Alabama and Texas, with both team’s ball caps present on the table. Kirkpatrick claimed that the Texas hat “didn’t have swagger” and proceeded to open several boxes and bags before pulling out an Alabama flat bill. The cornerback went on to enjoy a standout career with the Tide before being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012.
