EA Sports trolls NCAA Football fans with poorly thought-out Facebook post

EA Sports has not produced its very popular NCAA Football series since 2013 due to legal concerns about player likeness.

So when the video game developer made a post to its Facebook, which has more than 1.8 million “likers”, on Monday for the first time since July 2014, people were very excited.

That excitement was fueled by the content of the post, which was a simple video of a heart monitor showing a beat.

The internet erupted with excitement, jumping to the conclusion that the heartbeat was an indicator the the popular series was alive and that a potential revival could be in the works.

As it turns out, that was a major misinterpretation:

EA Sports did go back and edit the video to include this caption: “Our heart still beats for the big game… #NationalChampionship”.

The updated post of the video can be found here.

Even with the correction, it was poor form to put it out there so vaguely in the first place. Especially after waiting so long in between posts.
