Being one of the elite defensive prospects in the nation certainly has its perks, including being recruited by many of the nation’s elite football programs. Judging the finalists of Forsyth, Ga., prospect Malik Herring, he is indeed one of the nation’s elite high school defenders.

Three SEC schools made Herring’s Monday released final list: Alabama, Georgia and LSU.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Herring is rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 94 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 4 strong-side defensive end and the No. 10 recruit from Georgia, according to 247Sports Composite Ratings. Herring narrowed his choices down to five after receiving 29 scholarships from around the nation.
