Could either Alabama or Tennessee swipe the pockets of Pennsylvania powers Pitt and Penn State, not to mention northern recruiting machine Ohio State, and land Donovan Jeter? Judging from the 2017 four-star defensive lineman’s list of finalists, the possibility still exists.

Jeter announced his ‘Final 5’ Wednesday evening via Twitter and both SEC rivals made the list:

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Jeters ranks as a four-star recruit, the No. 14 defensive tackle in the nation and Pennsylvania’s No. 6 overall prospect, according to 247Sports. The big lineman has scholarship offers from 27 different programs including Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Michigan, Michigan State, Miami, Notre Dame and UCLA.

While Jeter is expected to remain close to home to play college football, the Volunteers do have a few factors helping them out in his recruitment. Defensive coordinator Bob Shoop spent the last three years recruiting and getting to know Pennsylvania’s best prospects for Penn State plus Jeter’s family has ties to Tennessee, as his father Carliss played college basketball in Chattanooga for UTC.
