The creation of the SEC Network has led to a major overhaul in the broadcast coverage of the conference’s spring football games.

Not a single game will be broadcast live on the Network, despite ESPN’s exclusive rights. Instead, the program will house the games on SEC Network+ — it’s online edition — and then re-air them on SEC Network once they’re completed.

The SEC Network Alternate channel also will host “spring whip-around coverage” on April 11 (noon to 4 p.m. ET)  and April 18 (2 to 5 p.m. ET) to provide live updates, and ESPN is sending a sideline reporter to all 12 SEC spring games.

The news means fans will need to log on here using their cable subscription to see the games live. That’s a big change. According to AL.com, for example, it’s the first time since 2008 that the Tide’s A-Day game won’t air live on cable. The game got prime real estate on ESPN in 2009 and 2010.

According to an ESPN release, the network will staff each spring game with a three-person broadcast crew. (To see which SEC Network broadcasters will handle your favorite team’s spring game, check here.)

If you want to watch your team’s spring game via SEC Network on tape delay, here’s the schedule. Note that Kentucky and Texas A&M will not stage spring games, while Vanderbilt already played its game.
