It’s getting close to time for another weekend of SEC football and if you can’t be in a stadium, or at least in the parking lot tailgating, there’s not a better place to be holed up at home checking out all nine games involving SEC teams on your TV and various other devices. We’ve learned a few things about each conference teams in the first few weeks and now we’ve rated all nine games on watchability.

These rankings are subjective, but factor in league and national impact along with how exciting and how close the games will be. Games are ranked on a 1-5 Georgia Dome scale (the site of the SEC Championship Game), with 5 being the most watchable game and 1 being the least.

5 GEORGIA DOMES

No. 13 Alabama at No. 8 Georgia, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS — This is what SEC football is all about, right? National powers set to do battle between the hedges in Athens. Both teams still have SEC and national championship aspirations. A loss to the Bulldogs would do serious harm to Alabama’s chances while Georgia is trying to stay unbeaten after an impressive start, albeit against inferior competition. There’s going to be a whole lot of talent playing with a whole lot of motivation when these teams take the field, and that’s always fun to watch.

No. 3 Ole Miss at No. 25 Florida, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN — When the season began, a lot of folks might not have picked this game to be a Top 25 matchup of unbeatens, but here we are. Ole Miss has already passed a tough road test at Alabama, but the Rebels will have to take on a bunch of Gators fighting to prove they are for real. Both teams promise to sling the ball all over the field, but can either defense be the one to slow the other? Ole Miss is clearly the favorite, but if Florida can pull off the upset in The Swamp it will announce the Gators are officially back.

4 GEORGIA DOMES

Arkansas at Tennessee, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2 — These aren’t the best teams in the conference by a long shot, but it happens to be a contest between a pair of squads coming off tough losses desperate for a victory. Neither team lacks for talent, but both thought they’d have better records at this point. If Arkansas doesn’t win, it can pretty much kiss this season goodbye. Tennessee is trying to regroup after heartbreaking losses to Oklahoma and Florida. This game won’t decide the conference title by any stretch, but you might not see two teams playing with more urgency all season.

No. 21 Mississippi State at No. 14 Texas A&M, 7:30 p.m. ET, SECN — The Aggies are undefeated and favored, but you could have said the same thing last season when a loss to Mississippi State began a three-game skid and sent A&M’s season off course. The Aggies are looking to continue to show they are a much-improved team, and slowing down the Bulldogs offense led by quarterback Dak Prescott would be a good start. Prescott and the MSU offense lit Texas A&M up for 48 points a year ago. Can they do it again?

3 GEORGIA DOMES

South Carolina at Missouri, Noon, SECN — South Carolina may have solved its quarterback problem by turning it over to freshman Lorenzo Nunez, and now Missouri may be forced into the same by also turning it over to a freshman. Struggling quarterback Maty Mauk is suspended, meaning Drew Lock gets the start. The Tigers can’t really afford to lose this one if they are going to win another SEC East title, but the big reason to watch may be to see what the future looks like with these two first-year signal callers.

2 GEORGIA DOMES

Vanderbilt at Middle Tennessee State, 7 p.m. ET, CBSSN — This is a little bit reminiscent of the matchup earlier this season between Missouri and Arkansas State. The Commodores will have to face a solid mid-major opponent, which will be jacked to have an SEC team in its stadium. Vandy’s secondary has been solid this season, and it will need to be again against the Blue Raiders’ potent passing game.

Eastern Michigan at No. 9 LSU, 7 p.m. ET, ESPNU — This one has blowout written all over it, but watching LSU running back Leonard Fournette might be worth it anyway. The sophomore is continuing his Heisman campaign and can likely rack up big numbers if he wants.

1 GEORGIA DOME

Eastern Kentucky at Kentucky, 7:30 p.m. ET, SECN — There might be some interest if you live in the Blue Grass State, but the Wildcats should roll and continue their quest to getting back to a bowl game.

San Jose State at Auburn, 4 p.m. ET, SECN — Auburn’s struggles have reached the point where not even a potential upset at the hands of a Mountain West team is that intriguing. This is simply a game against two mediocre teams.
