Every week throughout the season, we’ll provide some video highlights of the SEC’s top commits.

SEC COMMITS

Robert Beal, DE, 4-star Georgia commit (Bradenton, Fla.)

When No. 2 IMG Academy needed someone to make a play to fend off a pesky Trinity Christian Academy, Beal stepped up.

The nation’s third-ranked defensive end jumped in front of a screen pass and returned it for a 21-yard touchdown to help the Ascenders hold on for a 34-21 victory last Friday night on national TV.

Beal has all the speed and athleticism expected of a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end, but he also possesses enough power to bully through blockers.

Those skills have made him the No. 8 player in talent-laden Florida and the 39th overall prospect in the class of 2017. Beal in the third highest-rated player in Georgia’s recruiting class, which is No. 3 in the country, according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.

Tyler Shelvin, DL, 4-star LSU commit (Lafayette, La.)

Louisiana’s best recruit might also be its biggest.

Listed a 6-foot-3 and 376 pounds, Shelvin is one of the key pieces of LSU’s fourth-ranked recruiting class in the nation. He’s also the centerpiece of Notre Dame High School’s defense, which shut out Delcambre in a 56-0 win Thursday night.

The Pioneers have held their opponents to just 9.3 points per game while cruising to an 8-0 record, and Shelvin has had plenty to do with that. He transferred from Northside High School to Notre Dame for his senior season after his coach left the school for another job.

Now, Shelvin is ranked second at his position and the No. 35 overall player this year.

The space-eating defensive tackle would fit perfectly in Tigers defensive coordinator Dave Aranda’s 3-4 scheme, which entered last weekend tied for fourth nationally in scoring defense.

Shelvin committed to LSU in March 2015 and has stayed loyal to that pledge even though coach Les Miles was fired four weeks into this season. But before the No. 1 player in Louisiana suits up for the Tigers, the defensive tackle will participate in the Under Armour All-America Game in January.

Tadarian Moultry, LB, 4-star Auburn commit (Birmingham, Ala.)

Jackson-Olin High School is back in the playoffs for the first time since 1999, and Moultry is a big reason.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker collected 10 tackles as the Mustangs beat Parker High School 31-21 to clinch a postseason berth Friday night. Jackson-Olin’s defense has been a key piece of its playoff run — Moultry and the Mustangs have allowed just one of their nine opponents to score more than 21 points this season.

He’s ranked No. 6 at inside linebacker and the state of Alabama. The No. 170 overall player in this year’s class, Moultry is a hard-hitting tackler who also has excellent closing speed and can play sideline-to-sideline.

The Jackson-Olin star is Auburn’s highest-rated defensive recruit in its 2017 class. Moultry was also selected for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.
