By any measure, the SEC lost two of its greatest coaches when Steve Spurrier resigned and Mark Richt’s tenure at Georgia ended.

They’re gone, but their place in SEC history is secure. As is Nick Saban’s, who jumped into the top spot for career winning percentage against SEC teams.
