Mitch’s announcement includes a farewell note to his Gamecocks family, thanking the fans for their support and USC coaches, including Steve Spurrier, for the opportunity. His plans to transfer from South Carolina upon graduation were first announced on May 20.

As a 2013 signee, Mitch redshirted that fall and saw limited action in his freshman season (2014). In 2015, his sophomore season, he went 9-of-22 for 122 yards and a touchdown pass in South Carolina’s season-opening 17-13 win over North Carolina. He was 4-of-7 and had a rushing touchdown against Kentucky before leaving the game with a shoulder injury.

Mitch will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Dukes, who won the Colonial Athletic Conference last season and hosted an episode of ESPN’s College GameDay.
