NFL writer takes shot at Clowney via Twitter; says he will apologize to him
A day after sending a salty tweet in reference to Jadeveon Clowney not meeting with reporters, the Houston Chronicle’s NFL writer John McClain intends to apologize to the third-year pro Wednesday.
In case you missed it, McClain sent this tweet out Tuesday after Clowney dodged the media after the Texans’ latest practice:
Clowney refused to do interview as he was walking off the field. Maybe he would have gotten injured talking to us.

The tweet was obviously a reference to Clowney’s five injuries, two of which required surgery, since arriving at the NFL level after being the No. 1 overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. Following the injuries, Clowney has missed 15 of his 32 games with the Texans.
After the tweet went viral, McClain had some second thoughts – especially after his wife saw the tweet.
As my wife reminded me 2night I haven't covered NFL for 38 years by taking cheap shots, especially when a player is injured like Clowney.

So, after practice tomorrow, I will approach Clowney and apologize for the cheap shot.

Props to McClain for manning up after having regrets on his Clowney tweet.
