South Carolina, Old Dominion go into weather delay
The West Virginia vs. Penn State showdown in Morgantown was not the only college football game to go into a weather delay on Saturday afternoon. The same was true for South Carolina and Old Dominion at Williams-Brice Stadium during Week 1 action.
This occurred due to the fact that lightning was detected within a six mile radius of where the game is being played, meaning that there must be a delay of no less than 30 minutes. The game was first delayed at 5:14 p.m.
Whenever the two teams get back to action, it will be the Gamecocks trying to hang on to a slight 10-7 lead the team currently holds over the Monarchs. Shane Beamer’s team will look to keep its foot on the gas despite the stall, as it started off with a good deal of momentum out of the gate when Kyle Kenard forced a fumble on the first drive of the game, recovered by Debo Williams at the three-yard line.
UPDATE: The weather delay lifted at 5:58 p.m. ET.

Well….all I can say at half-time is this: there is no possible scenario under which DQ (forever to be known as “Dancing Queen”) Smith would be allowed to suit up for my squad. Seriously? Am I the only Gamecock fan who finds this guy’s antics, escorting Old Dominion’s receiver down the field, utterly unacceptable? This guy is a joke, and any coaching staff that allows/enables this complete lack of football fundamentals is even worse than a joke. Come on Beamer, grow a pair and make an example of this soft clown at the half….get this group of underachievers to play to their potential for once!!!! Start by calling out “Dancing Queen”……
You are asking a lot for someone who just wants to be one of the guys with the players. He makes excuse after excuse and he says they are going to clean things up repeatedly and they never do so. Partially because he does not know how to clean things up and he does not have the stones to hold himself or anyone else accountable.
