Despite a very impressive fall camp from true freshman quarterback Jarrett Guarantano, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones put an end to any speculation on which quarterback would enter the game for the Vols if senior starting quarterback Joshua Dobbs goes down.

“Quinten Dormady,” said Jones on Tuesday. “He’s one snap away.”

That wasn’t all Jones had to say about the sophomore, as he threw some praise Dormady’s way.

“(Dormady) had his best day (of practice Monday),” Jones added during his press conference.

While many wisely point out Guarantano better matches Dobbs’ style of play, Jones does not appear eager to discount Dormady’s knowledge of the Vols’ offensive system and his on-the-field experience from last season. In limited appearances against five opponents as a true freshman, Dormady looked sharp completing 13 of 22 attempts and throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown.

While Guarantano comes with a ton of hype, Dormady himself was a prolific high school talent as he was ranked as the No. 8 pocket passer in the nation in the class of 2015, according to 247Sports.
