When big name coordinators change teams, there is often an impact in the world of recruiting.

With news of LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis departing Baton Rouge to head to Texas A&M, the shake up began immediately.

Justin Martin, a four-star cornerback from Nashville that was considered an LSU lean, committed to Tennessee today. “I’ve officially committed to Tennessee,” Martin said on Wednesday. “I wanted to go to LSU but then Chavis left to go to Texas A&M.”

Other LSU targets have chimed in today as well.

Cornerback Ugo Amandi, a teammate of Justin Martin, reaffirmed his commitment to LSU despite the departure of Chavis.

Five-star defensive tackle, Daylon Mack, mentioned he’s dropping a visit to LSU and will now visit Texas A&M (he was committed at one point to Texas A&M).

We will continue to monitor the recruiting impact of Texas A&M hiring John Chavis from LSU.
