The Tennessee Volunteers are looking for a new head coach, and many fans have taken to watching the #Grumors swirl.

However, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit said on College GameDay on Saturday morning that he thinks the Vols should go in a different direction.

Instead of targeting former NFL coach Jon Gruden, Herbie thinks the Vols should try to land former NFL and Oregon coach Chip Kelly (via 247Sports):

“I would personally target Chip Kelly,” Herbstreit said. “If you’ve got a chance to target Chip Kelly, I would do that to see if he’s a viable candidate. I think December 20, the first time we’ve had an early signing period. These ADs feel a sense or urgency like never before. They don’t want to lose out of Chip Kelly, Scott Frost, Dan Mullen whoever it is. It’s an interesting cat and mouse game with things at play.”

Of course, the Vols will have to compete with Florida for Kelly, as the Gators have been heavily linked to Kelly as they engage in their own coaching search.

Who each school hires remains to be seen, but there are plenty of rumors out there at the moment.
